Hi! I’m Evie, I’m a university student. Let me tell you what the Centre has for students.
On Monday evenings there’s free tuition in roped climbing and bouldering technique for students. Some of the local universities have a special deal here for students on Mondays. In January there’s an inter-university climbing competition with prizes!
There’s a special cheap rate for holders of a current NUS card- it’s only £3.50 to climb as long as you like off-peak (between 10am and 5pm every weekday), and there’s a discount for students at peak times as well.
And there’s a special bonus for students at Nottingham University! Nottingham City Council has put on a FREE BUS service between The Main Campus (Queen’s Medical Centre) and the Jubilee Campus (Crown Island bus stop) over to Nottingham Climbing Centre! Just alight at the Wilkinson Street Tram Stop and you’re just a few minutes away. Actually, it’s the Medilink bus service between our two big hospitals, but it’s free to anybody who gets on. It runs from early morning till around 6pm in the evening.
You can join the Centre by simply turning up, and you can start bouldering straight away.
If you are able to put on a harness, tie in a figure-of-eight knot and belay competently, you can join as a roped climbing member straight off.
Either way, simply fill in the Registration Form on this website, and the Centre will have your details ready to issue you with a Membership Card as soon as you arrive. Easy Peasy! See you there! Evie.
